FOUNDATION WEEK CELEBRATION
Well, this was the most interesting & happening event of 3rd semester, according to me.It was an exemplary demonstration of optimum utilisation of available human resources.Plainly speaking,it was a well co-ordinated ,well-organised event lasting for about a week. The foundation week celebration campaign started with the launch of "INTRA COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL"competiton. This time we had 8 teams. Each branch containing two team of its own. This time it was huge, was played on a extended period, was a day-night affair & the most important part-the players displayed a level of skill far too superior than it was from the last edition of the tournament.Alok chokroborty sir inaugurated the event. It was a good tournament after the end of the day.Every team showed great sporting spirit.Every team had their own dress code.It looked good. The final was played between runners-up IT led by K.Ashok& defending champion CSE led by Pritam palaei.Though there were very few audience during the final, yet it didnt deter the "josh",enthu of the players. The final was played the way it should be.3 Hand-passes,drop shots, smashes, placements, swinging serves-everything thing was there to see & rejoice.
Side by side, simultaneously Badminton tournament was also being held .Badminton matches were lot more entertaining than i thought to be.It gave every one a late night excuse for not studying.I enjoyed it a lot.I remember sourav shouting "concentrate,concentrate"...just to distract the players. It was kind of funny .For the whole week I didnt touch the holy books.I was just too involved in making things right for the conduct of tournament.& Let me tell you ,it wouldnt have been possible if i hadn't had the support of my fellow mates sidhant, amit, prashant(nattis),rashmi, pratik, angusman & lastly our warden..oops sorry "superintendent"chulbul pandey.More than playing/participating in the event ,it was the people's belief to oraganize a good event which led to the successful completion of the programme.I was just surprised & amazed when people like nattis(prashant),,pratik, angusman, rashmi, kamal, sourav even if not being a part of sports club came all the way, missing some classes to make sure everything from flood-lights,nets,court dimension is set correct. This was the thing i was talking about. This kind of feeling should be there among the people when you set out to make some group events. It is instinctive, not persuasive.Just on the day of foundation ,we had a mini-Marathon.It began roughly around 7am in the morning. The track length was about 2.5-3 kms.Arrangements for mobile-PCR had been done.so it was just a matter of time.I couldn't attend it as my health had deteriorated due to sleepless routine for the past 1 week. The night before the mini-marathon day,I & sidhant at around night 2am were discussing the possibility of occurrence of any marathon the very next morning. We had lost all hope because none of had the strength to get-up again at 6am & do the required things. But to my surprise ,everything fell in place.By luck, there was a little help from sabyasachi & co. who woke up the whole hostel just in time. The only nagging thing in the whole programme was the least interest of staff in the on-goings of the campus & very "reluctant"help from the administration in the form of finances or labor.
Apart from all these sporting events many cultural,non-cultural events were also taking place.Painting competition, photography competition.slogan making competition....& there was this blood camp organized by rotary club.So ,in short the small campus of ours was bubbling with lots of activities throughout the week.At the end, there were series of foundation lectures by eminent personalities.Everything fell in place, everything looked good.
As I said it was a week that demonstrated the optimum utilisation of human resources. We don't boast of a complete infrastructure, but we did what we were capable of.So everyday is a learning process. We just have to perceive it.
