THE SPORTS SEASON IS ON
VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
So ,moving on with some serious topics now.The campus started to buzz ,with students taking keen interest in volleyball.People raised the level of der game.There were lots of discussion going around in hostel to organize an INTRA-COLLEGE volleyball tournament.The students were quite enthusiastic about it.People started practicing it till late in the night.After getting the nod from the authorities ,we finally geared up for the mega event.According to me,from whatever i could remember,it was a four day event from 14th-17th feb 2010.The tournament was inaugurated by The honorable DIRECTOR & DEAN sir.Both of dem tried der luck in dis game for a minute or so..students were quite amused by dis sight.Every day matches started at around 5pm & ended around 9 'o 'clock.Since it was a four-day event,der was a great atmosphere in d campus.Every night ,each team would discuss about der weakness & strengths ...& eventually practice late in the night.The spirit of competition had aroused-"TO BE THE BEST".
In the midst of all this,girls also decided to have a hand-ball match of their own.
The inauguration match was played between our Team EEE-1& IT-2.We won that match in straight sets.Since der were a total of 9 teams & grouping dem into two 2-sub groups was a tedious task.People had issues with the grouping & match allotments.The day-scholars were reluctant to play the evening matches.Nevertheless,people supported der teams & showed great fraternity.Overall,in my opinion ETC team(consisting of sidhant,dipak)was the team which played with lots of heart.CSE team led by PRITAM was very tactical in nature.The 2nd EEE team led by AVINASH,were the dark horse.They played the way the game was meant to be played for.The IT team led by ashok were the aggressive lot.They just fixed to der strategy ,till dey lost it in the finals.Our team ,too had a good balance.But it never performed the way it should have been,whenever the time demanded to.Problems were arising ,as the girls couldn't find any suitable schedule as well as a vacant court to conduct der matches.There was court occupation from both the sides.,which eventually resulted into chaos.The next day ,the news spread to the authorities.Though they didn't take any serious step,they cautioned the concerned people for any such incident in near future.The tournament
moved on & the final was concluded without much disturbances.In the midst of all dis,on the 3rd day of the tournament,I left the campus for my grass court nationals to be played at kolkata.
It was for the first time that i was playing on a grass-court.It was a royal feeling while playing on grass,but it wasn't royal at all when i faced an embarrassing defeat in the 3rd qualifying round from an ANDHRA guy 6-0 ,6-1.I was just like an amateur in front of the HEAVY-BUILT professionals.It was a pathetic experience,but i wanted to play a bit more on the grass..Dejected ,i came to BBSR after 2-3 dayz.It was difficult to swallow 2-2 defeats in a row(volleyball & den my tennis tourno).
